Sharding spreads OLTP queries across several servers in order to improve performance and scalability. The most essential features are already available with Informix 12.10. - data is divided into parts (Shards)
- and spread across multiple computers
- in combination with Informix Enterprise Replication every Shard is replicated on every replication server. Every server owns a copy of Shards
